DA’s annual club fair went off without a hitch! Thanks to the SOLD Committee’s planning, organization, and collaboration with faculty and the maintenance team, we had an incredible afternoon with an amazing turnout. Students gathered in K Commons and the Quad for an hour of browsing–and there was a table for everyone! With over 70 registered clubs participating at the club fair, this was one of our largest club fairs yet!
There was an incredible array of clubs that ranged from service and academics to sports, hobbies, arts, and so much more. Science Olympiad was decked out with previous competition products–all interesting conversation starters–and by the end, many students were sporting rainbow heart stickers from the GSA booth! Colorful, creative posters and tri-fold boards were everywhere–situated on tables, against backpacks, and in club leaders’ arms–and the Gardening Club even brought plants to share! Music from the XIV Hours table got everyone in the mood and excitement was palpable.
Leaders of clubs seemed to have a blast, as names tallied up, and everyone looked forward to first meetings. Although food was sadly not allowed at the fair, tantalizing promises of treats at the first meeting enticed many students. Many clubs also used the new and innovative–as well as socially-distanced–system of signing up with printed-out QR codes linked to google forms: an idea proposed by the SOLD committee just last year during the pandemic.
It was also just a beautiful day, and that plus so many new clubs gave more than a hint of new beginnings and a great year ahead! Clubs like the Engineering club, French club, and Political Union made their first appearances, and old favorites like Exurbia, Habitat for Humanity, and Student Ambassadors returned once again.
Thank you to all the students who showed such passion and drive in making the club fair happen. From both sides of the table, the event was a hit! If you were able to come out to the fair, we hope that you were able to take full advantage of this event and a big shoutout to all the faculty, staff, students, club leaders, and student government members that made the 2021 Club Fair happen!
